After running for a bit over a year, UNist is closing its doors, to be folded back into [the palaverist]. This site will hang around as an archive, but if you crave obscure Koreana and semi-insider pontifications on the UN, [the palaverist] is now the place to go.
Apologies for the lack of posts. Life at the Mission has been hectic due to the firing of the other speechwriter. Which is a story I can at last tell, now that he's definitely gone. Stay tuned.
Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Much has been going on in my personal life — a Yosemite vacation, an upcoming move to a new apartment — while the most interesting goings on at the Mission have been personnel issues that I can't really discuss.
But much is happening at the UN too, and in the larger world. The North Koreans are gonna talk again, and the September summit at the UN should provide some political fireworks. An interesting question is whether the United States will be represented by the embattled John Bolton or by Acting US Permanent Representative Ambassador Anne W. Patterson.
For those of you who have bookmarked either [the palaverist] or [UNist] directly, I recommend that you change the bookmark to http://www.palaverist.com. Thanks to the glories of RSS, the homepage now shows the latest posts from both blogs, so you can see if there's anything new and click accordingly.
I've decided to break my blog into two: [the palaverist] for personal blogging and this new blog for politics. I think that this will help to focus both blogs, and I like the idea of having a space devoted to my political posts, where a piece on casualties on Iraq isn't followed by a rant about my phone company or a humor link.
